In partnership with the National Book Foundation, Miami Book Fair will be hosting a series of online book discussions for young people, creating an opportunity for dialogue between NYC and Miami students around this year’s National Book Award honorees. Each week, a moderator will facilitate open discussion among students featuring one of the ten longlisted honorees of this year’s National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.
The National Book Foundation has named its annual 5 Under 35 honorees, a selection of five fiction writers under the age of 35 whose debut work promises to leave a lasting impression on the literary landscape. For the first time, all of the honorees are women of color, and the 5 Under 35 Ceremony will be presented digitally on October 20, in partnership with the Miami Book Fair.

PARADE OF THE BANDS
The Parade of the Bands takes place on Sunday, the day before Columbus Day, and features over 18,000 masqueraders in over 20 masquerade bands meandering around on an approved parade route. The parade starts at noon and ends at 11 pm with a concert that follows the judging of the bands. The pulsating music, the beauty, and pageantry are all legendary!
FUNDarte’s 2020-21 Season opens on Sunday, October 11th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with the 6th edition of our International Festival of The Arts for Youth and Children, “ZunZún Children’s Fest” featuring a virtual presentation and book launch of Color Caribe, a downloadable songbook illustrated by renowned Hispanics and Caribbean artists, and the premiere of three digital workshops for children.
From film presentations to poetry, literature, music and dance performances, culinary arts, architecture, and meaningful discussions about issues shaping the future of the country, Miami Dade College (MDC) celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of online events and activities that are free and open to the public.
