Volume 35 LIGHT Presented by PechaKucha Night Miami

PechaKucha Night, the Japanese art of concise presentations, returns to Miami January 30 with 11 local storytellers sharing their take on the theme of LIGHT at The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse in Wynwood. PechaKucha (Japanese for “chit chat”) is the world’s fastest-growing storytelling platform used by millions in more than 1,300 cities since its start in Tokyo in 2003. After a three-year absence, PechaKucha MIAMI is back with more amazing locals sharing visually compelling stories in less than 7 minutes. Speakers using PechaKucha’s 20x20 presentation format use 20 slides auto-advancing every 20 seconds to guide their way. On January 30, 11 presenters--ages 12 to 81--will interpret how LIGHT shapes their world. Deborah Magdalena, director and founder, Spoken Soul Festival, will emcee the evening.

A Talent Festival where students will be given the opportunity to showcase their talents and have their skills evaluated by qualified industry professionals, and educators who encourage excellence, offer ideas for improvement, and inspire students. ScreenDance Festival Miami 2020 Workshop: Cinematography for Beginners Presented by Miami Light Project

This workshop is part of ScreenDance Miami Festival 2020, presented by Miami Light Project. Participants will come away from the workshop with examples of best practices, do's and don'ts, and more confidence in their future exposure and lighting choices.

Children's Festival & Butterfly Encounter Presented by Coral Gables Woman's Club

For the first time the Children's Festival will include "The Butterfly Encounter." The exhibit is a Florida based educational family business that teaches about the life cycle of the butterfly. We will have a 15'x28' inflatable exhibit with 100 plus butterflies inside. We will provide feeding sticks with nectar and the festival goers will be able to interact and take as many pictures as they like. It is an all day event. Attendees are shown how to properly feed and handle a butterfly. ​ This is the sixth annual Children's Festival and the event is FREE and open to the PUBLIC. Bring your children for face painting, arts, crafts, a tour of the club's Dental Clinic and much more. Colorfest 2020 Featuring Red Baraat Presented by SMDCAC

Celebrate the beginning of Spring at the Holi Colour festival with Red Baraat! Although the festival was originated in India, it is celebrated all around the world. Make it a day out with friends and family , enjoy the dance and live music on stage and relish delicacies from a variety of food vendors. Participants smear colored powder onto their friends and family as part of this festive tradition. The colors are non-toxic so have fun smearing them on your family members and friends. Participants also use water guns to squirt colored water as a fun way to celebrate. RED BARAAT is a pioneering band from Brooklyn, New York. Conceived by dhol player Sunny Jain, the group has drawn worldwide praise for its singular sound, a merging of hard driving North Indian bhangra with elements of hip-hop, jazz and raw punk energy. Created with no less a purposeful agenda than manifesting joy and unity in all people, Red Baraat’s spirit is worn brightly on its sweaty and hard-worked sleeve. Recommended attire is white, because it's going to get messy and colorful. Holi champions diversity and equality for all, bringing together people from all backgrounds, cultures and age groups.

Prepare a five-minute story about EARTH. Communing with nature, digging up dirt, or saving our blue marble. Cooling or warming, believing or denying, uniter or great divider.
