PAID INTERNSHIP Museum Entry Points Internship in Collections & Exhibitions at The Bass

The Bass is offering a 12-week, full-time paid summer internship in the Collections & Exhibitions Department for college students from currently underrepresented backgrounds in our field interested in pursuing a museum career as a Registrar, Collections Manager, Archivist, Librarian/Special Collections or Conservator.
AVAILABLE FOR SUMMER 2021

Under the supervision of the Registrar of Collections & Exhibitions, the intern will have hands-on learning and training experience and participate in the daily management of the museum’s collections, on/offsite storage vaults and loans on exhibition. The intern will learn and gain skills in proper art handling, care/maintenance of exhibits, preservation techniques, collections storage organization and management, environmental monitoring, cataloging and condition reporting, inventory, database and file management, accessioning of new acquisitions and deaccessioning from the permanent with documentation.

ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants who self-identify as part of an underrepresented group including, but not limited to, Black, Indigenous and/or People of Color (BIPOC)
Students currently enrolled as undergraduate juniors and seniors, and recent graduates (since December 2020) are eligible to apply
Experience/interest in registration and collections management preferred
Interest in Contemporary Art and museums
Completion of at least one art history or museum studies college course
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information


DURATION AND COMPENSATION

The 12-week internship program requires a commitment of 35-40 hours a week and offers a stipend of $10,000 with a $1,000 travel allowance.
