Internationally recognized author and spoken word artist Shane Koyczan has emerged as a creator of poetry that dares to belong to the people and speak directly to them in their own voice.

Actor/comedian/writer Tom Segura has quickly become one of Hollywood’s most in demand and highly regarded talents. He is best known for his three Netflix specials, Disgraceful (2018), Mostly Stories (2016), and Completely Normal (2014). Paste Magazine described him as, “...having a natural and capable storytelling ability, one that lifts his narratives out of average anecdote fare and plants them firmly in hilarious ground.” Additionally, his hit podcast Your Mom’s House which he co-hosts with his wife, comedian Christina Pazsitzky, was a finalist for Best Comedy Podcast at the Stitcher Awards and profiled by VICE. Segura has risen to be one of the top comedy theater acts in the country. He also continues to perform at the top comedy festivals in the world, including Montreal’s Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, The Comedy Festival - Las Vegas, The South Beach Comedy Festival, and The Hong Kong Comedy Festival. A fusion of stand-up comedy, story-telling, video, and live dancerly-ish action and music that talks about what it means to be a woman, from the perspective of a person that dresses up like one.

DESUS NICE & THE KID MERO (aka: THE BODEGA BOYS) are quickly taking over the podcast world and late-night game. The comedians and podcasters rose to prominence when the former Bronx schoolmates reconnected on Twitter. As they were building their own followings, the two shared an affinity for complaining about their dissatisfaction for their jobs, coupled with pointed and funny pop culture commentary. The re-connection of the quick-witted duo led to stints on Complex (Desus Vs. Mero) and MTV (Joking Off), their current podcast The Bodega Boys, and a daily critically-acclaimed late-night show on Viceland—all while continuing to amass an enthusiastic following for their smart and comedic off-the-cuff musings on life’s greatest topics. Their new weekly late-night show Desus & Mero premiered on Showtime in February, marking the network’s first late-night program. Recently, Desus & Mero contributed their voices to Ezra Koenig’s (Vampire Weekend) animated Netflix series Neo Yokio and Neo Yokio: Pink Christmas, alongside Jaden Smith, Susan Sarandon and Jude Law. In addition, they have an untitled 'life advice' book from Random House coming in 2019.

Motown Brunch ft. Yoli Mayor

Thanks to The City of Miami Beach we’re transforming the Normandy Fountain into a soulful brunch where everyone (and their furry friends) is invited to say farewell to the weekend.

Sway to a soulful tribute set by Miami’s own powerhouse lady, Yoli Mayor featuring a selection of Motown favorites from the 50s and 60s. Plus, a charming opening funk set by Alejandro Elizondo.

Sit down to some of Miami Beach’s favorite breakfast eats boasting Brunch classics, artisan vendors, kid’s activities and more.

 

The 13th annual All Kids Included Family Arts Festival presented by Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and SMDCAC with support from The Children's Trust, takes place on Saturday, May 4.
