Miami New Drama (MiND) ​is a theater company committed to artistic excellence and groundbreaking work with a vision of theatre as a powerful vehicle for social change and transformative educational experiences for youth. In Spring they are launching their first training program for teenagers MiND Theater Workshop an educative experience designed in collaboration with Limitless Health. Project activities will include courses focused on writing, voice, movement, & acting. Participants will benefit from training in performance and creation to reflect and respond to important issues in their daily lives and develop empathy and tools for artistic expression within their own community and space. They will culminate in a presentation of their own production in an open space to the public. So if you are interested in acting, dancing, writing, and developing your creativity to the fullest this program is for you.

Investments in Time and Money By Israel Garcia Set in Miami during the height of the Great Recession, two life long friends find themselves in dire straits, tempted to relive their nefarious youth. Their past and present, joy and pain, and love and wrath are intertwined in a story of friendship, marriage and betrayal. This reading is a part of the Playwright Development Program Alumni Reading Series, administered by the South Florida Theatre League for the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs.

Miami Light Project is excited to announce that applications to participate in our Technical Fellowship Program are available now! Miami Light Project’s Technical Fellowship Program is a program designed to benefit early-career technicians and support the workforce development in Miami. We will provide free virtual technical theater workshops and paid work experience for emerging Miami-based technicians. The program’s intensive training includes: 1) Free workshops focusing on Intro to Lighting, Audio, Video, Stage Management, Light Board and more. 2) Free entrance to industry demos. 3) 40 hours of job training – hands-on, one-on-one observation and mentorship, gaining real-time, on-the-job experience backstage during live events. 4) Paid internship – available for those who complete the 40 hours of job training and workshops. 5) Employment opportunities. James McAvoy (X-Men, Atonement) returns to the stage in an inventive new adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac, straight from London’s West End. Fierce with a pen and notorious in combat, Cyrano almost has it all - if only he could win the heart of his true love Roxane. There’s just one big problem: he has a nose as huge as his heart. Will a society engulfed by narcissism get the better of Cyrano - or can his mastery of language set Roxane’s world alight? Edmond Rostand’s masterwork is adapted by Martin Crimp and directed by Jamie Lloyd (Betrayal). This classic play will be brought to life with linguistic ingenuity to celebrate Cyrano’s powerful and resonant resistance against overwhelming odds. “Lift Every Voice - Black Women Speak” features the reading of 14 monologues that unleash the thoughts and experiences of black women playwrights from across the country. From an unwanted pregnancy to the fear of a traffic stop, the monologues give us a glimpse into the lives of these women. Produced by Marjorie O’Neill-Butler, directed by O’Neill-Butler, Ricky J. Martinez, Rachel Finley and Karen Stephens, and featuring South Florida actors Carolyn Johnson, Stephon Duncan, Carey Brianna Hart, Daryl Patrice and Yesenia Ozuna.
