John Adams’ “Short Ride in a Fast Machine” sets the atmosphere for two world premieres commissioned by the Miami Symphony Orchestra. Rodner Padilla's “Concerto for Electric Bass and Orchestra” fills the hall with an exotic blend of tradition and modernity. Then, the beautiful melodic lines of Karen LeFrak's “Piano Concerto” close the first half. The concert concludes with the fascinating musical discourse of the all-time favorite “Symphony No. 4” by Johannes Brahms.
