Additional Information

In Carrié’s works, plenty of references to the political relationships between Haiti and powerful metropolises such as France and most recently, the US, can be read between the lines. They help us understand much of our contemporary history and politics. Reality and imagination are interwoven and inseparable, just as they have gone hand-in-hand for the Caribbean people, for centuries. Heir to this legacy and aware of the lack of images that are inherent of the region, Carrié gifts us with a new imaginary that is definitively closer to the world as he knows it.
