#5FILMS4FREEDOM Presented by World OutGames Miami

Curated as part of Pulse Points at the New World Center, #FiveFilms4Freedom is the first global digital LGBT short-film program that include both drama and documentaries and tell stories of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender experiences. Now in its third year, the British Council in partnership with the British Film Institute, present its newest crop of five short films. This year, all five films are from the UK to mark the 50th anniversary, in 2017, of the decriminalization of homosexuality in the UK - a landmark moment from human rights. 


From the tentative steps of first love, through an intimate portrait of an extraordinary family, to an exuberant picture of underground cultural expression #FiveFilms4Freedom 2017 are:

Where We Are Now (UK 2016 / 9 mins). An intimate documentary portrait by Lucie Rachel of the relationship between a transgender parent and her bisexual daughter in Scotland. © Lucie Rachel


Still Burning (UK/France 2016 / 9 mins). Era, a young migrant from Guadeloupe living in Paris, introduces his brother to leotards, heels and the fierce attitude of the dance movement voguing. Directed by Nick Rowley. © Nick Rowley

This FREE screening of #5Films4Freedom 2017 is presented with the support of the City of Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council and is held is held at SoundScape Park at the New World Center. The program begins at 8:30 PM, RAIN OR SHINE.
